 The roundhouse/old Great West Beef building on Horton street finally has

a tenant. Just last week, rtraction < http://www.rtraction.com/> (a

leading local web design firm) and ATMOS marketing <

http://www.atmosmarketing.com/> announced that they will be restoring

this historic building and relocating their offices there.


SoHo is excited to welcome these two companies to the neighbourhood,

this will certainly give the area a boost and help to further rejuvenate

Horton st.

London Planning and Environment Committee.

On Wednesday, May 14th, SoHo had its 2013 Annual General Meeting.

Some highlights from the meeting:


Jim Yanchula, Manager, City of London Urban Design gave an update on

the progress of the Old Victoria Hospital Lands secondary plan <

. Three options were presented, each with different levels of density,

and emphasizing different features of the area. A finalized version of

the plan will be presented and voted on at an upcoming Planning and

Environment Committee < http://www.london.ca/d.aspx?

s=/City_Council/standcom.htm> meeting.

Don Menard, City Heritage < http://www.london.ca/d.aspx?

s=/Heritage/default.htm> Planner, provided an update on the proposal

to designate SoHo (or a part thereof) as an official “Heritage District”.

Blackfriars is currently under consideration, and SoHo is next.

Oliver Hobson, Joe O’Neil, and Ed Corrigan, Fugitive Slave Chapel

Preservation Project < http://fscpp.ca/> provided an overview of this

project, which seeks to relocate and preserve a piece of North American

history.

Julie Misener and Loredana Onesan from Fincore Canada <

http://fincoreconsulting.com/> provided an update on the proposed

design for the SoHo Wellington Centre <

Ezhil Natarajan, the new proprietor of the Canadian Tire store on

Horton Street introduced himself and invited the neighbourhood to


come to his store for “Jumpstart Day < http://www.sohovillage.ca/wp-

content/uploads/2013/05/Jumpstart-Day-May-2013.pdf> ” on May 25th


from 11am-3pm. This year, they will be raising money for the Boys and

Girls club of London < http://bgclondon.ca/> .


Once again, we wish to thank Maple View Terrace for their hospitality and

generousity in letting us use their space and providing refreshments for

the meeting.

The heroine is Jane Prior of 87 Wellington Street who apparently exuded such a sense of calm that she stopped a raging bull in its tracks. Continue reading →  Association News – Upcoming Election for President Resignation of Cheri McLeod  With a heavy heart, we would like to announce that Cheri McLeod has decided to step down as President of the association. Cheri has been with us since November, and although her tenure has been short, it has definitely had a tangible impact upon our neighbourhood.  Cheri’s resignation will be effective pending the appointment of a replacement. SOHO Community Association - June/July 2021

 It is a time for transition for the SoHo Community Association. James Shelley, who has been serving as the president of the community association since February 21, 2019, is moving out of the neighbourhood and therefore stepping down from the board. Upon his resignation, Jessica Justrabo, who was elected Vice-President on February 21, 2019, has assumed the role of Acting President, effective June 23, 2021. Soho Community Association Board Transitions Jessica will continue to work with Laurie Bursch (Treasurer) and Leia Beland (Secretary) as acting president until such a time as pandemic restrictions allow for community elections to be held safely in order to appoint a new president.
